The Continuing Education and Recertification Process for GB Coaches and Trainers

The Global Resource Team (GRT) is committed to serving the Grip-Birkman Coaches and Trainers in their varied uses for the Grip-Birkman.  In maintaining the focus of on-going learning and sharing, the GRT requires that GBB Coaches and Trainers be recertified every 3 years.  This will involve Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) which can be acquired in various ways. 

With the new establishment and enforcement of this policy it is our desire to assist you as best possible in your understanding of the new system.

Definitions:

GB Coaches—have completed the GB Coach Training Workshop and facilitated five (5) individual GB coaching session.

GB (Coach) Trainers—in addition to the above, have completed Birkman Level I Certification training, coached 25 profiles, and co-trained at one Coach training event with a GB trainer.

Continuing ed (CEU) and recertification process -- is designed in collaboration with ChurchSmart to provide customized training modules which are expressly adapted to our Christian audience and its unique demands. This system runs parallel to the ongoing Birkman program, and is not intended to be a competitive system, but a specialized system that remains connected to Birkman International.

Standards:

GB Coaches must be members in good standing (dues paying) and complete the following experience and training every three years to maintain their GB Coach certification:

> 10 hours of continuing education units (CEU’s) every three years is required to retain GB Coach certification.  These hours must be earned through the Global Resource Team’s distance learning webinars, approved specialized training, or the 1 ½. day Recertification course.
Note: If you allow your certification to expire without notice, it will be necessary to attend another GB Coach Training Workshop.

> Two (2) GB-CEU’s are granted for every 90-minutes of interactive learning hosted by the GB-Global Resource Team (GRT). The CEU value of each webinar will be at least two (2) GB-CEU’s. The GRT will offer a minimum of five webinars each calendar year. In each three-year cycle, there may be a “required” webinar capturing “latest learnings” from the GB Coaching network.

> Webinars will be initially presented “live” to enrolled participants. The sessions will be recorded and downloadable for the same price within one-month. After this time, they will be posted on www.gbbcoaches.net, however, they will no longer qualify for CEU credit.

> GB Coaches may take the 1 ½ day Recertification course every three years (worth 10 CEU’s). Attending this event will meet the full recertification for the GB Coach standard.

> Pricing Structure: The annual membership fee for GB Coaches is $ 79, payable to ChurchSmart.

GB (Coach) Trainers must be members in good standing (dues paying) and complete the following experience and training every three years to maintain their GB Coach Trainer certification:

> 20 hours of continuing education units (CEU’s) every three years is required to retain GB Coach Training certification.  These hours may be earned through the Birkman (Bm)-CEU’s or through the GB-CEU’s.
Note: If you allow your certification to expire, it will be necessary to complete the initial Birkman Level I certification requirements as stated above.

> The 20 required CEU’s can be taken from the menu of either GB-sponsored or Bm-sponsored webinar.  A minimum of six hours must be specifically related to the Birkman Method (from either source), up to a maximum of 16 Bm-CEU’s. 

> In addition to the learning CEU’s, trainers must facilitate at least one GB Coach Trainers workshop every three years.

> Complete 15 GB assessments (may be individual or team settings) and coaching appointments.

> A Trainer Recertification course may be offered.

> Pricing Structure: The annual membership fee for GB Coach Trainers is $ 149, payable to ChurchSmart.

 Ways to Earn GB-CEU’s

** Note:  Webinars can be used for CEU’s when purchased and attended live or requested for download from ChurchSmart no more than 4 weeks after the initial recording.  After this time, they will be made public and free of charge on the website.  Once the webinars are on the GBBCoaches.net website, they are no longer available for CEU credit. 

***Note: Approved Specialized Trainings must be presented to GRT for review at least two (2) weeks prior to event date.  Criteria for approval will be direct connections to Grip-Birkman, Your Leadership Grip, or Discover Your Ministry Identity.  Each case will be reviewed individually.
